The photograph, They Leave Their Marks,
conveys the pain and memory of verbal bullying. You can’t always see the hurtful words
people use, like a bruise or a broken bone but they exist long past the point
they were used. Eventually words can become a label that becomes associated
with a person, something that makes people begin to see the label rather than
the person. So the question becomes how do you heal from
this verbal wound and how do you escape the label?
